Open Positions

We are looking for self-starters who thrive in a fast-paced environment and can turn complex challenges into innovative solutions.

As a backend developer at EMQ, you'll help build our core system, system APIs, and related applications. You'll work with a small team of great engineers, own areas of the code, and use whatever tools and languages are best for the task at hand.

Requirements:

  • 6+ years in software development, ideally for startups and/or consulting
  • Proficient understanding of database architecture, security, and concurrency Familiarity with multiple programming languages and stacks (Plus)
  • Familiarity with PostgreSQL database design and development (Plus).
  • Experience with Erlang/OTP, Python, GraphQL, Elixir, Phoenix or similar frameworks and tools (Plus).
  • Experience mentoring junior software developers to improve their skills
  • Portfolio of sample code or side projects, ideally open source
  • Willing to undertake a paid trial project, maximum of 20hrs.

Responsibilities:

  • Own delivery of product initiatives and releases. Be able to communicate both the business and technical rationale behind your product decisions.
  • Define, document, and communicate objectives, requirements and constraints for product initiatives and releases.
  • Collaborate with business development, engineers, and designers to define the service and product.
  • Communicate development status and document progress toward milestones.
  • Prioritize and sequence product initiatives against a mandate.
  • Perform market research and analysis.
  • Understand different functional roles within the business and their requirements in relation to products and services.
  • Be an effective communicator in both written and spoken English (and Mandarin optional).
  • Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors.
  • Define and execute software test cycles for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Understand and guide customers through custom API workflows.

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of product management experience.
  • Technical enough to ask engineers good questions about architecture and product decisions alike.
  • Excellent organization skills.
  • Ability to work well with designers and engineers.
  • An analytical and metrics driven work style.
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Prior experience at a startup or consumer internet company.
  • Experience writing code - for fun, college, or work - is a plus.

As a DevOps Engineer at EMQ, you will be part of a small team of great engineers. You'll help develop and manage our global AWS network infrastructure. You’ll be helping to deploy our partner network systems under our DevOps scope, working with an existing toolchain – with the opportunity to build-on the tools and processes used.

Requirements:

  • Understanding of the AWS Platform, and Cloud Formation, EC2, Route53, CloudWatch, Lambda,etc.
  • 2-3 years of experience using Ansible as the primary configuration management tool.
  • Good domain knowledge of CentOS/Linux server OS.
  • AWS Platform Operation Monitoring, Cloudwatch.
  • Python, or similar programming/scripting experience.

Desired Skills:

  • AWS Container methods such as Docker/Kubernetes.
  • Familiar with JIRA/Confluence, Slack, Github, Jenkins/Travis CI/CD.
  • Willing to undertake a paid trial project (8-24 hours of work).

EMQ is building a mobile financial settlement network throughout Asia, partnering with local banks in each country to enable and settle cross-border remittance. We have built our entire platform to fit within the compliance/regulatory framework in each of the countries that we enter. EMQ is working with some of the world’s largest mobile companies, is backed top tier VCs and investors, and is led by a highly experienced executive team from banking, technology and consumer-facing industries.

Responsibilities:

  • Business development to enable and develop cross-border transaction business.
    • - Build out the Asia Pacific network: work with banks, third-party payment companies, regulatory bodies.
    • - Develop business along the Asia Pacific corridor: mobile apps and companies with cross-border transactional needs.
  • Establish, develop and maintain relationships with potential partners.
  • Growing operations by identifying new business and generating new opportunities.
  • Coordinate business, legal, engineering, and resource requirements.
  • Reports directly to EMQ’s CEO.
  • Position to be based in Taiwan, and requires travel.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 7+ years of Business Development experience with a strong focus on sales and strategic planning.
  • Excellent business acumen and willingness to be hands-on, ability to work within tight deadlines.
  • Strong ability to set clear measurable objectives, delegate responsibilities, assess, recognize, and reward performance.
  • Strong analytical skills and proven experience in managing complex projects and teams.
  • Experience in Fintech or Payments optimal, but not necessary.
